An invasion of armies can be resisted, but not an idea whose time has come.

That Cold Front Could Be From Hell

April 1st, 2008 by Kevin

Thanks to global warming, this snow storm could have been worse, especially since I\’m pretty sure it has rolled in from Hell. Because I\’m pretty sure Hell has completely frozen over because I actually agree with Barack Obama on something…

ABC\’s Sunlen Miller and Z. Byron Wolf Report: During a town hall meeting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Obama was asked about the “North American Union.”

\”There’s no evidence that that’s taking place,” Obama repeated again and then reiterated his opposition to NAFTA.

“NAFTA helped to break down barriers on trade between those two countries and I was opposed to NAFTA because I thought it didn’t have the labor and environmental and safety standards that would look out for US workers. But I don’t think there’s some conspiracy to create this one you know, continental government between Canada and Mexico,” said the Illinois senator.

Obama was also asked by the same questioner what his status is with the Council on Foreign Relations, a nonpartisan foreign policy group which has also been targeted for similar reasons by conspiracy theorists.

“I don’t know if I’m an official member. I’ve spoken there before, it basically is a forum where people talk about foreign policy, and so there’s no official membership,” Obama respond, “I don’t have a card or a special handshake or anything like that.\”

Wow who would have thought….although Obama and I agreeing that Elvis is not actually selling tinfoil hats delivered by aliens in black helicopters isn\’t exactly a high standard of non-craziness.

Let\’s face if folks, there is no North American Union, so you can stop the insanity. And no I\’m not secretly being hired by some massive government conspiracy and I\’m not part of any Council of Foreign Relations. There is no plot to create a North American Union. There is no plan to merge the US, Canada and Mexico and even if the leaders of the countries wanted to they couldn\’t. The existence of a \”super-highway\” does not mean there is a massive conspiracy. Sometimes a road is just a road, in this case I-35. You may have heard of a \”road\” before. It\’s used to transport people and goods on….two activities which are critical for trade, and trade being necessary for a functioning economy is a good thing. Even wackos like Ron Paul (or more precisely his followers) need money, which requires a robust economy.

If you really need more convincing, awhile back John Hawkins (who also is not a member of the Council on Foreign Relations) did a number of excellent rundowns of the whole issue. You can read the debunking of this ridiculous conspiracy here, here, here and here are some general suggestions for all conspiracy theories. Note to all Ron Paul fans, you should be visiting all these links.

Can we stop the political idiocy now and get back to more substantial issues like what type of macaroni pictures Obama made in the 1st grade and whether or not Britney Spears is wearing panties this week??

I never understood why people were all bent out of shape about “the road.” “the road” and its “train” is supposed to cut through the US on the way to Canada. Why not have the illegals bypass us on their way to the largess of the Canadian welfare state. They are constitutionally required to give them free healthcare. I say let them go for it and then show us how well that works.

YOu do realize that opposition to the North American Union, the superhighway, and the “Security and Prosperity Partnership” is well on its way to becoming part of the State Platform, don’t you? Are we going to look like the tinfoil hat crowd?

Oh I realize that….that’s part of what inspired the post.

We’re turning the already bloated platform into a joke by adding black helicopter crap to it.
